Relish
The term “relish” can apply to any sort of chopped and pickled condiment, but it most frequently refers to pickle relish. It exists for approximately two reasons: to place on hot dog, and to mix into tuna salad.
Taste
Relish tastes good. It generally has a sort of sweet flavor to it, which gives it depth. Any sort of dynamic flavor like this is welcomed on a hot dog, which desperately relies on such additions.
Relish became an official snack on June 19th 2012.
