Yam
Yam is basically a sweet potato, but it’s not called that, which is super confusing. It’s an orange, potato–like root vegetable. For a loose analogy, yam is to sweet potato as plantain is to banana.
Taste
Yam tastes good, because it has a sort of naturally sweet flavor. It’s not as good as sweet potato, because it’s not quite as orange.
Yam became an official snack on June 19th 2012.
